The 2021 United Kingdom census recorded a total population of about 135,300 Hong Kong-born residents. The Home Office predicts that as many as 300,000 Hongkongers may choose to relocate to Britain for the next 5 years.

The ‘Coming for Hope’ report published by ‘Hongkongers in Britain’, which indicates that the mean age of applicants is 37 and that 71 per cent of applicants hold a university degree.  The survey found 23.4 per cent of Hongkongers lived in the southeast of England, followed by 22 per cent in London.
